Angela M. Wang

Hi, I’m Angela — writer, creative, and award-winning data journalist. Currently, I’m an editor at T Brand Studio, The New York Times’ custom content studio.

Journalism

I’ve investigated Ponzi schemes for The New York Times, identified the corporations that bankrolled anti-abortion laws, scrutinized Congress’ finances, analyzed QAnon messages, and called Jeffrey Epstein’s previously undisclosed contacts. I’ve filed hundreds of public records requests and been a plaintiff in a FOIA lawsuit against the Treasury Department.

It’s not all so heavy. I’ve also written about my favorite work of art, the world’s largest commune, and my skincare routine

Branded content

I’ve worked extensively with brands, directing creative and copywriting on campaigns at The New York Times, Gizmodo, Gawker, and BuzzFeed. Clients I’ve written for include Samsung, Google, HP, Rocky Mountaineer, Virgin Galactic, NatGeoAuraTwin Peaks (Showtime), Canon, Black Mirror (Netflix), and tourism boards around the world.

In another life, I made websites, blogs, net art, and gifs. More of my visual work — data viz, photography, and animated drawings — can be viewed here.

But wait, there’s more...

I grew up in a town nestled at the western edge of the Rockies in Utah. I’m an alumna of Columbia University (MS, Data Journalism), Northwestern University (BA, Art History & Studio Art), and some forgotten corners of the internet. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me rock climbing, cooking/eating, or taking pictures of my cat.
